Desde o surgimento dos e-readers, existe uma constante discussão: afinal, quem é melhor? O livro físico ou o livro digital?
Muitas pessoas acreditam que os livros digitais são o futuro e que, em breve, as versões físicas serão substituídas. No entanto, mesmo com a crescente popularidade dos e-books, os livros físicos ainda são muito amados e valorizados por muitos leitores. Embora os livros digitais possam ser mais baratos do que os livros físicos, o dispositivo de leitura pode, às vezes, ter um preço inacessível para alguns leitores. Assim, os preços dos livros físicos permanecem mais acessíveis e atraentes, especialmente quando se trata de edições usadas ou livros mais antigos.
Outra das principais razões pelas quais o livro físico é tão amado é a experiência de leitura que ele proporciona. A sensação de segurar um livro, folhear suas páginas e sentir o cheiro do papel é algo único e especial que não pode ser replicado por um dispositivo eletrônico. A capa, as ilustrações, a tipografia e a textura do papel são elementos que tornam cada livro físico único e diferente.

Os livros físicos são, acima de tudo, uma importante forma de apoiar a indústria editorial e os autores. Ao comprarmos livros físicos, nós estamos investindo em uma cadeia produtiva que envolve desde a produção do papel até a distribuição e venda dos livros nas livrarias. Além disso, os livros físicos são mais difíceis de serem pirateados, o que significa que os autores têm uma chance maior de receberem royalties justos pelos seus trabalhos.
Para muitos leitores, os livros físicos também têm um valor emocional e sentimental. Eles podem representar uma lembrança especial de um momento ou pessoa querida, ou simplesmente ter um valor pessoal que os torna mais importantes e significativos do que qualquer outro objeto material. Eu, particularmente, amooo ganhar livros de presente e, com certeza, associo o livro e aquele momento de leitura à pessoa que me presenteou.
Tem ainda aquela vantagem polêmica: o empréstimo. Os livros físicos, nós conseguimos emprestar para amigos e familiares, trocar em sebos e até mesmo doar para bibliotecas e instituições de caridade. E essa possibilidade de compartilhar a leitura com outras pessoas pode ser muito gratificante. Para algumas pessoas. Pra outras pode ser um pesadelo.
Cada leitor tem seu jeito individual de cuidar do livro: alguns gostam de escrever direto no livro, outros gostam de post-its; tem gente que quebra a lombada e tem gente que só de pensar já fica arrepiada. Inúmeras possibilidades de compartilhar um mesmo hábito.

Another major reason why the physical book is so beloved is the reading experience it provides. The feeling of holding a book, flipping through its pages, and smelling the paper is a unique and special experience that cannot be replicated by an electronic device. The cover, illustrations, typography, and texture of the paper are elements that make each physical book unique and different.
Who doesn’t love walking into a bookstore just to smell the scent of books, right?! 😳
Physical books are, above all, an important way to support the publishing industry and authors. When we buy physical books, we are investing in a production chain that involves everything from paper production to the distribution and sale of books in bookstores. In addition, physical books are more difficult to pirate, which means that authors have a better chance of receiving fair royalties for their work.
For many readers, physical books also have an emotional and sentimental value. They can represent a special memory of a moment or loved one, or simply have a personal value that makes them more important and meaningful than any other material object. Personally, I love receiving books as gifts and certainly associate the book and that reading moment with the person who gave it to me.
There’s also the controversial advantage of borrowing. Physical books can be borrowed from friends and family, traded in used bookstores, and even donated to libraries and charities. And the possibility of sharing reading with other people can be very rewarding. For some people. For others, it can be a nightmare.
Each reader has their own individual way of taking care of the book: some like to write directly on the book, others like post-its; some people break the spine and some people just get shivers at the thought. Countless possibilities to share the same habit.
