Little Swiss Italy

Every Swiss canton is charming, each of them has their own language, traditions and even mentality. I think that Ticino has a true Italian atmosphere, views are very similar to Liguria, architecture is super authentic, people are relaxed and hospitable. We love to visit this magnificent canton every year and explore it from different sides. There are some places in my list that you must experience:

1. Monte Bre: take funicular from the city center ( don’t worry, you will have a chance to walk around). The best time to visit -sunset, you clearly will see how the sun is falling in the Alps. You definitely should take a walk by the Village in just 15 minutes. The village looks like a hidden place from fairytale, there are typical Ticino’s stone houses, big church on the top and fantastic viewing point on the valley.

.

2. San Salvatore: You can do the full hike from down to up, I am sure that it would be a wonderful experience, but also you could take a funicular from the city and then walk back down. All walking trails are very comfortable, with a lot of viewing points, places for picnicking.

3. San Grato- Morcote: It is a hiking / walking trail through the mountains. Trail is very easy, we did it with the whole family. There are a lot of trees along the way, so you won’t be exhausted by the sun. Moreover there is a botanical garden with plenty different beautiful plants. In the end you will get to a little city called Morcote, that is absolutely charming with narrow streets labirintis and colorful buildings on the quay. On the back way you could take a boat, that will take just 40 minutes to Lugano.
