The event, organized by Swiss Wine Promotion, offers you the rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the harvest for half a day and get to know the world of winemakers. Harvest – an annual ritual marking the beginning of autumn and bringing the vineyards to life. But what exactly lies behind this process, and when can you experience it up close?

When and where does the harvest take place in Switzerland?

When: The harvest extends from late summer to autumn, with the exact timing varying depending on the wine region and specific climatic conditions such as climate, soil type, grape varieties, and traditions.

Where: Valais, Vaud, Geneva, German-speaking Switzerland, Three Lakes, and Ticino. Check out the participating Wine Cellars here.

What can you expect at the event?

From May 9th to May 11th (NOW!), 2024, the region’s renowned winemakers open their doors for the Open Wine Cellars Valais

232 wine cellars, 55+ different grape varieties, 4700 hectares of vineyards

Valais is the largest vineyard in Switzerland. During the event, you can explore this idyllic region and participate in tastings, learn the stories behind the wines, and discover the unique terroirs that give Valais wines their distinctive character.

When: From Thursday to Saturday (9.-11.5.), 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Culinary Diversity and Enjoyment

The Wii-kend Maienfeld would not be complete without tasting fine Graubünden specialties. From Salsiz to traditional Capuns and a cheese platter – lovers of regional cuisine will be happy. But sweet treats are also a must: Homemade desserts!

For all wine enthusiasts who want to learn more about the art of winemaking, the Maienfeld winemakers offer exciting cellar tours upon request. Dive into the secrets of wine production and learn about the traditional and modern techniques used to produce these fine wines. Of course, tastings of the latest wines are also available.

When: Every Saturday and Sunday from April to October at 11 a.m. The pictures in this paragraph are all form the Heidelberg Winery, who will open its doors on the weekend of June 15th to 16th.

      Most of the Open Wine Cellars are completely for free, you can the wines for free & they usually sell the wines on site that day for a special price. For events such as e.g. Jardin Des Vins we payed CHF 30 each for the whole day of drinking wine and party included. Cheers, Chloé
