Everything You Need to Know About LinkedIn Posts

Hi everyone!

Some people struggle when it comes to what to post on their LinkedIn company page. To make your LinkedIn experience easier, here you will find everything you need to know about LinkedIn posts, from what kind of content you can write about, to the different pages available for you to create posts and so much more.

Let’s start with the types of posts you can write about. For that, I created a small video to give you ideas.

Then comes the question: “Where should I post what I created?” Well, there are two different types of pages where you can post your content:

  • Your LinkedIn company page:
This is the main page of your company account.
  • Your LinkedIn showcase page:
A showcase page is a complement to your company page. You can use it to communicate about a specific theme or product. This page is great to target a specific group of people. You can have many of them.

If you start with a LinkedIn account now, I recommend to first use the company page to get familiarized with it and then move on with the showcase pages, if you see a need to separate some content for a specific audience.

And now, let me give you some other tips on how to best post on LinkedIn:

Best time to post on LinkedIn
Based on Sprout Social, it is recommended to post on Wednesday or Thursday. The best time would be 8-10 am and noon on Wednesday, at 9 am as well as 1-2 pm on Thursday and finally 9 am on Friday. The worst day to post would be on Sunday. However, it also depends on your industry. Therefore, I recommend to experiment a little and see for yourself what works best.

Always include a call-to-action
When writing a post, always include a call-to-action addressed to your audience. This doesn’t have to be something exceptional. It could just be something as easy as asking share the post you created if they enjoyed it.

Whenever possible include a link to your website
Linking your post to your website is a great way to attract people to it and to get more visibility. Don’t be afraid to say something such as “Visit us on our website for more details” followed by the link. If the url to the website is too long, I suggest using Bit.ly, which is a url shortener tool that you can use for free.

Include an image or a video to your post
By adding a picture or a video, you’ll give your post more chance to succeed. Indeed, when including a picture, it normally performs 3 times better than just a text post. On the other side, if you opt for a video, there’s a chance that it will get 5 times more likes, shares and comments.

Use a friendly, yet professional tone
Try to find the right balance. On one side you have to be sincere and write in a way everyone can understand, but on the other side don’t forget that it’s a professional network, so you want to be seen like someone that can be taken seriously.

Do you have any other tips that could be helpful when writing a post? Don’t hesitate to let me know in the comments below.

In my next blog post, I’ll talk about how to gain an audience on LinkedIn. So stay tuned for more on LinkedIn for businesses.

In the meantime, if you liked this post, don’t hesitate to share it.

Take care!
