The Prada store in the middle of the desert?

The Prada Marfa was created in 2005 as a long-term art project by the Scandinavian artists Elmgreen & Dragset.

The Prada Marfa store is a landmark of the selfie culture and is situated in the midst of the Texas desert, roughly 40 kilometers from Marfa. The store’s design centered on the development of a piece that would decrease with time.

Therefore, this is the location from where the story starts – Marfa, Texas.

Reshaping the hotel industry

In 2024, the El Cosmico, the world’s first hotel constructed entirely out of 3D printers, will officially open. Currently located on a 21-acre site, El Cosmico is known for its glamping accommodations. However, it will soon move to a 60-acre location with accommodations that include circular structures that highlight the West Texas desert landscape and Sunday Homes, which will be built using 3D technology.

Liz Lambert, a successful hotelier, ICON, a well-known 3D printing company that currently works with NASA to build homes on the Moon and on Mars, and BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), a Danish architecture firm that will build the hotel with inspiration from the desert environment and the universe, are all involved in this project.

The Sunday Homes at El Cosmico are already accepting bookings; visitors should anticipate 30 to 40 homes; the precise number and final floor designs will be released in the coming months. For additional information regarding costs, visit ElCosmicoHomes.com.

I think the 3D printed accommodations will meet perfectly the concept of the area and also offer a bit more comfort to the guests. Besides probably offering a good cost-benefit.

    1. Dear Samira, I appreciate you sharing your experience. I definitely agree with you; as long as the value for the money is acceptable, 3D-printed hotels actually offer greater advantages.
