Salut les cops! ?
After our delicious Älplermagronen recipe (in case you missed it, you can find it here), I couldn’t resist sharing with you three of my favorite restaurants in Lucerne. These are the places I turn to when I’m in the mood for food – whether it’s the generous dishes of traditional Swiss cooking, the French cuisine that reminds me of home, or the exotic appeal of Japanese food. And to add a little fun, I’m going to give each restaurant my personal rating. So let’s get to work – exploring Lucerne’s diverse culinary scene together. ?
Alpchalet: A Taste of Tradition ??
⭐⭐⭐☆☆ | $$$ |
Why go? Nestled in Lucerne’s charming old town, Alpchalet restaurant is your go-to spot for Swiss classics like rösti and cheese fondue. The warm setting of the wooden chalet, with its beautiful fireplace and soft lighting, creates a welcoming atmosphere that invites guests to relax and enjoy the Swiss experience. Plus, the view of Muhlenplatz from its windows and terrace adds to the charm. ?
Order this Don’t miss the “Hausgemachte Rösti mit Ei und Speck“. It’s a hearty, filling dish of crispy rösti, eggs and bacon, all for the price of CHF 25.50. It’s expensive, I admit, but the setting and location are also what you’re paying for.

Brasserie Bodu: French Flair in Lucerne ??
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ | $$$ |
Why go? Brasserie Bodu offers a taste of Paris right in the heart of Lucerne. It’s a go-to spot for French expats missing home and locals with a love for French cuisine. With its diverse menu featuring traditional brasserie dishes, including fish, meat, and vegetarian options, Bodu promises an authentic French dining experience in the heart of Switzerland. Enjoy the view of the Kornmarkt from the terrace, or let yourself be seduced by the view of the Reuss from the magnificent balcony, creating souvenirs that will stay with you long after your visit. ☀️
Order this For a satisfying meal, try the “Entrecôte de la Brasserie” served with butter and home fries. It’s available in various sizes to suit your appetite. And don’t miss out on the classic tarte tatin for dessert—it’s a must-try. While Brasserie Bodu may be a bit pricier, the quality and taste make it worth every penny.

Blossom Alley: A Journey to Japan ??
⭐⭐⭐☆☆ | $$$ |
Why go? Blossom Alley, ideally located in Neustadt near the train station, attracts with its cozy atmosphere and charming kawaii-style decor. Despite its small size, this restaurant offers a delicious range of Asian fusion dishes, perfect for a quick meal, whether eat-in, takeaway or delivery. Although there is no on-site terrace, customers can still enjoy their meals on the neighboring Das weisse Schaf terrace, adding to the overall dining experience. ?
Order this For a satisfying and budget-friendly meal, don’t miss Blossom Alley’s daily menu. Treat yourself to a well-proportioned bowl of your choice, with options such as planted chicken, chicken or pulled pork, served with a refreshing bottle of El Tony mate – all for just CHF 11. This is one of the students’ favorite food spots not to be missed during your visit.
