In my introduction two weeks ago, I touched upon my fascination for Lima and its culinary delights at every corner. Seriously, Lima was something else. I was able to explore the city life with all of its varieties, whilst enjoying my life to the fullest. Honestly though, my enthusiasm vanished earlier as I had thought it would. The unfamiliar environment as well as all the new impressions got me feeling drained pretty quickly, and all I could ask for were these beachy, laid-back and easygoing vibes. But hey nothing is impossible. Friends of mine told me to visit Jericoacoara, BR, which according to them, is a must visit. After checking the flight connections and the area, I immediately knew, the spot would live up to my expectations. I only had to find the perfect accommodation. And guess what, here comes the first tip: Google Maps and Google Earth with the Satellite function are excellent tools to find YOUR dream hotel/accommodation. All you need to know is where you roughly want to stay location wise. As my nostalgy for some sandy vibes could not be turned off anymore, I could not help but search along the coast. Luckily, I came across my ideal beach hut, owned by a German family.
And if you think this is just a find-your-dream-hotel tip, you’re probably wrong. Believe it or not, this tip could potentially save your life. Two years ago, I rented a house on a Greek island for my family and myself, where we stayed for a week. Obviously, the pictures looked so appealing, and not to mention the promising reviews. Yet, I had an odd feeling about it, and I wasn’t convinced at all. I entered the address on Google Earth and guess what: the house was a ruin! I was outraged and could not believe what I had just seen. Nevertheless, as I had a closer look, because you know, a double check has never killed nobody, the Google Earth page revealed the following: Last actualization about one year ago. Well, I guess you already know what that meant. Yeah exactly, I booked the house anyways since it meant the house was newly built. Anyways, our stay in that beautiful house on Santorini was next level – definitely worth my shock and hours spent to look for the perfect spot.
And speaking of newly built: next week’s post is all about new openings. Are you as excited as I am? Stay tuned!
I never thought of check destination via Google maps. Thank you for the great tip!
Using Google Earth is a great tip – would not have thought about it! And it even gives you more security in booking something you do not really know.
