7 Things to Keep in Your Backpack

Citytrip Backpack Contents

I’m sure you have all experienced the problem of not knowing what to pack into your bag during a city trip. On one hand you think that you better take everything in case you might need it. On the other you do not want to carry half a house through a city. Since I am trying to make life easier for you, let me tell you about the 7 things I would never want to miss on any citytrip:

1. Berocca Boost

I take this only in absolute energy emergencies but in these cases, it works wonders for me. It contains vitamins as well as caffeine and guarana. In other words: An absolute power booster. It keeps me awake and gives me new energy whenever I need it desperately.

2. Hand Sanitizer

Whether it is after a take away snack, a long car ride or a toilet with an empty soap container: You will be happy to carry one of these in many situations. I’m sure that this beauty has saved me from all sorts of bacteria quite a few times.

3. Sun Cream

I know that I will probably sound like your mother but sun cream is so important! Especially if you travel a lot, you will want to protect your skin from the sun rays. Keep a small bottle with you at all times in case the sun shows up unexpectedly.

4. Blister Plasters

The pretty new shoes you just bought will probably not be as comfortable as they look. But you can wear them anyway if you keep a few of these with you! If you don’t know the brand yet, I always take “Compeed” blister plasters, because they’re just the best. Make sure to bring enough with you so that you will be pain-free throughout your whole trip.

5. Tissues

These you should keep in your backpack or handbag at all times anyway. When your “gelati” suddenly starts to melt away and leaves a stain on your shirt or you accidentally sit right on some fresh pigeon-poop: Tissues will save the day! And since they’re not heavy you will never regret packing them anyway.

6. Sleep Mask

Sleepiness sometimes can take you by surprise. But if you have a sleep mask you are prepared for a spontaneous nap anywhere and anytime. Also if your hotel room or apartment does not have window blinds you will be very happy to have a sleep mask with you.

7. Antiperspirant

I know it sounds trivial but this little thing is so valuable on any trip. And not just at the hotel room, but keep it in your bag wherever you go. A little freshening-up during a trip can make you feel a lot better. No matter if your destination is cold or warm.

There’s more to come!

In the next blog post I will tell you what else I always take with me on a citytrip. These seven things are some of the most important items to carry, as I believe. But still you should probably not forget about your passport, charging cable or wallet. So stay posted and learn some more secret tips about packing! 1. this video is great – is this your work? I imagine that this takes quite some time! But it’s worth it 🙂

    1. Hi Sabrina!
Yes, I did that with an app called “Stop Motion” (i downloaded it on my iPhone). And with this it’s actually very easy and a lot of fun! You could try it with making coffee sometime 😉

  2. Hand Sanitiser forever! For me it’s already an everyday gadget I use it especially when I have to go on a toilet on the train. Curious to read about the next things you take with you on city trips.

    1. It is an absolute livesafer not only on vacation! I always take one with me and need it the most, when I forgot it at home, of course 😀

  3. I love the polaroid – I usually bring a super old school Fujifilm camera, cause I love receiving the pictures weeks after the vacation has ended and looking at the moments again 🙂
