When I first came to Switzerland, I thought I knew what to expect—mountains, chocolate, fancy watches… you know, the usual. But one of the most unexpected (and honestly, coolest) things I discovered was Switzerland’s secondhand scene—especially the Brockenhäuser, or “Brockis.”
These places are like gold mines. You enter with nothing particular in mind and leave with a vintage lamp, an 80s designer coat, or a collection of vinyl recordings you didn’t even realise you wanted. It’s not just about finding deals; it’s also about the sustainability, the backstories of the items, and the thrill you feel when you discover something genuinely unique.
Can you believe that I once walked into a Brockenhaus just to browse and walked out with a beautiful wood frame for just 9.90 CHF? That’s the magic of treasure hunting in Switzerland’s Brockis.
If you love little surprises like that, you’ll enjoy my latest video. 🎥
Come along and thrift with me as I explore one of my favorite Brockis — who knows what gems we’ll find!
🛍️ Types of Brockenhäuser – Which One is for You?
Not all Brockis are the same! Think of Brockis like Swiss chocolate—plenty of variety, and you never know which one you’ll fall in love with. All of them, whether they are big, charity-supported stores or little, family-run businesses, are dedicated to sustainability and reuse.
- Luxury & Designer Finds –prelovedREVOLUTION( Zurich)
- Rustic & Antique Lovers – Zürcher Brockenhaus (Zurich)
- Everyday Essentials & Budget Thrifting – Caritas (Lucerne), St. Karli Brockenstube (Lucerne), Luzerner Brockenhaus (Lucerne), Heilsarmee Brocki.ch (Multiple locations)
Personally, I’m drawn to the Brockis that feel like a bit of organized chaos—the kind where you have to dig a little, but the reward is always worth it.Lately, I’ve been spending most of my time in the furniture and home decor sections (hello, home renovation mode), but every now and then, I can’t resist wandering into a vintage jewelry corner or a cozy little pre-loved boutique. My wishlist keeps growing… and okay, maybe it’s a tiny bit of a shopping addiction—but when everything has a story, can you really blame me?
Over time, I’ve gathered a few favorite spots that I keep going back to—each with its own vibe and hidden gems.
Here are some of my top picks🛍️✨:
1) Salvation Army, Bern – The Organized Oasis
This is hands down my all-time favorite Brocki! Unlike many thrift shops where things are piled chaotically, this store is spacious, airy, and beautifully organized.

- Vintage vinyl records – from classic hits to rare gems.
- Well-curated home decor – think wooden trays, rustic candle holders, and more!
2) Blaukreuz-Brocki, Thun – The Cozy Vintage Wonderland
Don’t let the industrial-looking exterior fool you—inside, it’s a warm, inviting space filled with rustic furniture and charming wooden decor.

- Homemade jams & local treats – a delightful surprise!
- Rare vintage pieces – you never know what gem you’ll stumble upon.
3) Communauté d’Emmaüs, Fribourg – The Underrated Gem
This small but mighty Brocki may not be as well-known, but it’s a goldmine for practical finds. If you’re looking for functional, high-quality items, this is the place to be!
🏢 What You’ll Find:
- Large furniture pieces – from solid wood tables to vintage cabinets.
- Second-hand ski equipment – get geared up for winter at a fraction of the price!
- Household essentials – practical, well-kept items waiting for a new home.
4) Heilsarmee Brocki.ch, Einigen – The Scenic Secondhand Haven
Nestled in the picturesque Bernese Oberland, this Heilsarmee Brocki offers more than just thrifted goods—it provides a cozy shopping experience with stunning lake and mountain views right outside its doors.
🏢 What You’ll Find:
- Quality second-hand furniture – from rustic wooden pieces to modern finds.

There are so many more quaint little Brockis and secondhand spots I’ve visited over time—it’s honestly become a bit of a weekend ritual for me. Grab a coffee, wander through the aisles, and see what treasures pop up. The list keeps growing, and I’m still discovering new favorites with every outing.
