DIY: Shampoo Secrets Revealed

Hello beautiful readers! 🤍

It’s finally time for the first DIY beauty product! Discover how to create your own shampoo using essential oils (EO) as the foundation!

Shampoos are primary designed to cleanse the scalp and hair by removing dirt, excess oil and a product buildup. Although shampoos are mainly intended for hair care, the two shampoos you will create also contain ingredients that provide additional benefits for the scalp, such as moisturizing, soothing and clarifying properties.

Commercial shampoos often contain a variety of synthetic ingredients that can strip hair of its natural oils and leave it dry and brittle. By making your own shampoo, you have full control over what goes into it and can ensure that only the finest, most nourishing ingredients touch your mane. Plus, DIY shampoo recipes are often simple, affordable and eco-friendly, making them a win-win solution for both your hair and the planet.

Ingredients to create a shampoo for normal hair: 🧴

Steps:

  • Combine and blend all the ingredients except the neutral shampoo base.
  • Once the first preparation is complete, take 3 ml and blend it into 200 ml of neutral shampoo.
  • Apply the shampoo twice, afterward rinse to cleanse your hair effectively.

🌿 I would like to outline some hair benefits of the essential oils used:

  • Jojoba oil: Mimics scalp oils, moisturizes follicles, promotes healthy growth, prevents dryness and breakage.
  • Rosemary cineole oil: Stimulates follicles, boosts scalp circulation, strengthens strands, balances oil.
  • Palmarosa oil: Hydrates scalp, regulates sebum, fosters growth, adds shine, soothes irritation.
  • Cedarwood Atlas oil: Reduces inflammation, balances oil, stimulates follicles, prevents loss and dandruff.
  • Lemon oil: Cleanses scalp, removes buildup, stimulates growth, adds shine, leaves a fresh scent.
  • Rose geranium oil: Balances oil, soothes inflammation, boosts circulation, strengthens follicles, adds fragrance.

The right shampoo can make a big difference when it comes to treating dandruff and keeping your hair and scalp healthy. That’s why I have an alternative, simpler shampoo option available if you’re interested…

Ingredients to create an anti-dandruff shampoo: 🧴

Steps:

  1. Blend all ingredients
  2. Apply the shampoo twice, afterward rinse to cleanse your hair effectively.

For the anti-dandruff shampoo essential oil of tea tree has been used. Tea tree oil, derived from the Australian tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), has gained recognition in dermatology and hair care for its impressive antiviral, antiseptic, and antibacterial qualities, effectively cleansing the scalp, diminishing dandruff, and soothing irritation.

The shampoo should be used 2-3 times per week, and it’s crucial to apply the shampoo twice and rinse thoroughly.

Precautions:

  • always perform an allergy test on the elbow before use (at least 24 hours) because EO can be potentially irritating
  • avoid eye contact
  • keep away from heat and light
  • be careful when using EO, never exceed the recommended dose
  • do not use during pregnancy or while breast-feeding
  • do not use on children

⚠️: Before you follow my instructions, I strongly suggest you to first identify the products your skin cannot tolerate to avoid allergic reactions, because yes even if a product is 100% natural it cannot be suitable for you.
