Welcome back to our travel series! Today, I am sharing one of my favorite excursions. With the arrival of good weather, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a marvelous day out, featuring a simple hike and breathtaking scenery.
FOURTH BLOG: Easy Hike and Exploring Two Incredible Lakes
You will start the day from Kandersteg Bahnhof station, where approximately 1 hour and 30 minute hike to the stunning Oeschinesee Lake begins. For those preferring a more leisurely ascent, there’s the option to take the cable car?.
Along the way, you’ll be treated to magnificent mountain views, encountering waterfalls and some animals.
If you are visiting the lake and the weather permits, you can even take a refreshing dip in its uniquely blue water.
As always, you have the option to bring your own food, but there is also the opportunity to dine at the restaurant situated by the lake or treat yourself to an ice cream with the magnificent views.
For the more adventurous, there are several routes to explore above the lake, with the possibility of spending the night in one of the mountain cabins along the way. One such route is the hike to Doldenhornhütte via Oeschinensee, which takes approximately 4 hours and 52 minutes. I highly recommend booking accommodation in advance if you choose this option.
After enjoying this wonderful excursion, it is time to head back to the village to visit another of Switzerland’s famous lakes: Blausee Lake.
To reach Blausee, you will need to take a bus. The entrance fee to the lake is 11 Swiss francs on weekdays and 13 francs on weekends, but it’s well worth it. Keep in mind that if you arrive after 6 PM, the entrance fee is reduced to 9 francs on weekdays and 11 francs on weekends. With the increasing daylight hours, you’ll have ample time to enjoy the lake and its amenities, including barbecue areas (perfect for a picnic dinner), a trout breeding area, and even a glass-bottom boat ride included in the entrance fee.
I hope you enjoy this fantastic excursion! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
