A little bit of South America
What an adventure we had back in ’99 with my buddy! We set out as backpackers ? through South America, traversing Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and back to Peru.
Bolivia
It was like a sensory awakening, you know? La Paz, with its winding streets and bustling commerce in the upper part of the city, makes you feel alive, and their typical dishes are worth trying. ? But Cochabamba, oh Cochabamba! It’s like stepping into a different world, surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation that embraces you tightly. ? And what can I say about Santa Cruz? The party never ends there! ? The people are so welcoming that you feel at home right away. And the best part is Bolivia is super affordable. ?
The journey on the infamous Death Train from Santa Cruz to Corumbá (Brazil) was quite an ordeal, let me tell you. Fifteen hours of adventure on a train full of history and legends, with heat that makes you sweat every last drop, mosquitoes aplenty, it was madness. ? Despite it all, it was a different experience!
Brazil
Arriving in São Paulo was like stepping into a whirlwind of life. A gigantic city, full of contrasts and vibrant colors. The rodizios are a delight for the palate, I assure you! ? And those hot dogs on Avenida Paulista are simply addictive. ?
Rio de Janeiro… what can I say about Rio de Janeiro! It’s like stepping into a dream come true. The Sugarloaf Mountain and the Christ the Redeemer statue leave you breathless, literally. ?️And the beaches… oh my, the beaches are a paradise on earth. ?️ Búzios is like a piece of heaven on earth, with its crystal-clear waters and relaxed atmosphere. ? And having a coconut on the beaches is priceless. ?
Florianópolis is another story. A charming island, full of life and energy. The bars, the nightclubs, the beaches… everything in Florianópolis has that magical touch that captivates you and doesn’t let go. You feel like staying to live there. ?️
Paraguay
Asunción, Paraguay, was a pleasant surprise. The people, with their warmth and hospitality, make you feel at home right away. And mate… ah, mate! It’s a whole ceremony, a tradition that is lived on every corner.☕
Uruguay
Punta del Este, is like a materialized illusion. The beaches are so beautiful that they seem to have come out of a painting. ?️ And the party, oh the party! ? It’s something you can’t miss.
Argentina
Buenos Aires… what a wonderful city! It’s like stepping into a different world, full of history, culture, and life. Neighborhoods like Puerto Madero, La Recoleta, and La Boca have that unique charm that instantly captivates you. And the food… the food is finger-licking good, literally. ? A good barbecue accompanied by a good wine… there’s nothing better! ? And it’s a must to have some delicious pasta anywhere in the city with their delicious wine. ?
Mar del Plata is great for taking a plunge to escape the intense heat. The beaches, the sun, the sea breeze… everything in Mar del Plata invites you to relax and enjoy life. ?️
And Rosario… what can I say about Rosario! It’s a picturesque city, full of charm and magic. The Paraná River is like the heart of the city, and taking a dip in its waters is an experience you won’t easily forget. ?
Chile
Santiago, the lively capital of Chile, has tons of culture and food to explore. ?️ Meanwhile, Iquique is like a beachy oasis in the desert, chill vibes, and a cool history to dive into.
Peru
And how could I forget my beloved Peru, where there is so much to see, one of the best culinary destinations in the world, with a super wide variety of dishes. Additionally, it’s where Machu Picchu is located, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. ?️
And so, amidst adventures and memories, we returned home with hearts full of unforgettable experiences. What a trip, my friend, what a trip! ?
Here’s a tiny quip to bring a smile to your face
Why did the camera refuse to go on vacation? Because it couldn’t picture itself away from home!
