Schön dich wiederzusehen!
Letzte Woche habe ich zum ersten Mal das Wallis besucht, und somit haben ich den letzten Stopp auf meiner Reise durch die Wingerte Mitteleuropas erreicht.
Angefangen hat alles in Rheinhessen, dort habe ich dich auf eine kleine Rundreise mitgenommen, wir haben Riesling probiert und den ersten Frühlingsboten genossen, bevor wir dann weiter in Elsass gefahren sind.
Mit Gewürztraminer und Pinot Noir im Gepäck, sind wir die elsässische Weinstrasse hinuntergefahren und haben die ein und anderen Geheimtipps erkundet.
Vom Elsass ging es dann über die Grenze in die Schweiz und direkt an Bern vorbei in den Süden, ins Wallis. Auf den Spuren von Chasselas und Cornalin, denen bereits mein Opa auf den Spuren war, ging es hoch hinaus. Zu einem Entschluss, wo es nun den besten Wein gibt, wäre er wohl nie gekommen, denn jede Region bringt etwas eigenes und besonderes mit sich.
Opa würde vermutlich einfach weiter probieren, Winzer kennenlernen und ihre Weine mit in die Heimat bringen, fasziniert von der Technik und Raffinesse mit denen so viele Winzer ihr Handwerk angehen.

Finally we go to Valais
Nice to see you again!
Last week I visited the Valais for the first time, and so I have reached the last stop on my journey through the vineyards of Central Europe.
It all started in Rheinhessen, where I took you on a little tour, we tasted Riesling and enjoyed the first signs of spring, before moving on to Alsace.
With Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir in the luggage, we drove down the Alsatian wine route and have explored the one and other secret tip.
From Alsace, we crossed the border into Switzerland and drove directly past Bern to the south, into the Valais. On the tracks of Chasselas and Cornalin, which my grandfather was already on the tracks, it went up high. He would probably never have come to a decision about where to find the best wine, because each region has its own special character.
Grandpa would probably just keep tasting, getting to know winemakers and bringing their wines back home, fascinated by the technique and sophistication with which so many winemakers approach their craft.
