The 7 most beautiful beaches in Portugal

Although Portugal is a small country it has almost 1800 km. oceanic coastline with 592 beaches. The majority of them are sandy and 330 beaches awarded with the Blue Flag – an award for excellent swimming standards and safety.

Officially the beginning of the swimming season in Portugal starts on June 15 and ends on September 15, but in reality, vacationers begin to arrive in March-April, and the closed season falls on the end of October.

Water in the Atlantic is colder than in the Mediterranean but the Algarve coast is heavily influenced by the water flow from the Mediterranean so it’s much warmer than the west coast of Portugal.  In the south of the country, Azores and Madeira the sea temperature is around 23 degrees in July-September, and in the west – around 20 degrees.

There are a lot of beaches in Portugal and it is not easy to choose the best ones. Watch this video about the 7 most beautiful beaches in Portugal and begin planning your next holiday!
