In this post, I would love to tell you more about my favourite podcasts and other resources I use to learn Spanish. I started studying Spanish not so long ago, so these tips are mostly aimed at intermediate students.
First, here are my favourite podcasts. My best recommendations for fellow Spanish learners are:
- News: “News in Slow Spanish”. Great if you (like me) just moved to the intermediate level and sometimes struggle to follow the conversation when people talk fast: https://www.newsinslowspanish.com/
- Spanish studying: “Learn Spanish with Daily Podcasts” from the DailySpanishPod or “Learn Spanish” from SpanishPodcast.net. Both recorded in Spanish only and cover a variety of topics in intermediate Spanish:

For the TV-shows, I recommend “La Casa de Papel”. Since it was filmed in Spanish, you can enjoy the original version. Although the language is hard to understand for intermediate users, it is broadcasted by Netflix, so you can watch it with subtitles in your language. This amazing series is loved by many people and tops Netflix charts around the globe. Another amazing show you can enjoy in original Spanish is “Las Chicas del Cable”, also from Netflix.
Besides podcasts, I also love watching Spanish videos on Youtube. My favourite channel is Easy Spanish. They regularly produce videos on various daily life topics, which can be used for study by the students of all levels: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAL4AMMMXKxHDu3FqZV6CbQ/
Another favourite of mine is the course-based website called “Say Something in Spanish”. Aimed at intermediate learners, this resource can be useful for people trying to break the speaking barrier. In the short videos, you are asked a question and given time to answer it. After a pause, an answer in Spanish is played. This allows you to practice your basic speaking skills without an actual partner. You can check out their system here: https://courses.saysomethingin.com/
For exercising and improving my basic vocabulary, I use Duolingo application. The app uses a gamification approach to study and is useful for beginners and intermediate students. It is also available for students of other languages, you can check this app here: https://apps.apple.com/ch/app/duolingo/id570060128/
Hope this short list of my favourites helps you on your journey to Spanish proficiency. In the next post, I will tell you more about rhetoric and what I do to improve my mother tongue.
Now, could you tell me which tools do you use to improve your Spanish? What are your favourites? Please, let me know in the comments below.
