While the thought of future technological possibilities is interesting and all, however, it is more important than ever to also consider the impact on the environment. Luckily, there are now a whole lot of amazing technology creations, which help with environmentally friendly impacts. It means you can still enjoy the digital age while doing your part in helping global warming. Every member who is involved in the population impact is encouraged to make even the smallest of lifestyle changes to improve their efficiency. So when doing a school project, doing work around the house or even hanging with the family at home, we need to consider whether the technology we have in our homes is saving energy or not? We should all aim to take a ‘kind to nature’ approach to daily tasks, using ‘green technology’ to our advantage. We create fewer waste products to reduce our impact, so why don’t we incorporate them in our everyday lives?
It may not seem it, but technology and sustainability can work hand in hand to create a better future. Green technology generates power from natural elements from the sun, wind, water and other renewable sources. Utilizing these elements can reduce our carbon footprint, even when involved in technology. Not only are they energy efficient, but they also save money in our pockets by reducing our bills. We must realize as a society that energy-saving techniques are crucial if we want to make our future sustainable. I would like to share with you some products I think are on the right path for us having a greener and more healthier future.
Solar Products
Solar panels and other solar devices have been designed to use the sun’s rays to warm homes and produce lighting. Solar products are everywhere! They are on roofs, lights, charging while camping, and help reduce the carbon footprint as well as the money you spend on bills. They can be expensive for some products, but the value is worth it for the long run. Companies nowadays have created the same products for less, so we can save the planet without breaking our wallets.
Smart Lighting
We need light in order to see. Lightbulbs are used everywhere in all shapes and sizes, for illuminating our rooms or places we can’t see so well. Sustainable lighting is very important and we should only be using solar lamps or energy efficient bulbs, like LED lights. These products serve a dual purpose for increasing energy efficiency, while using less energy waste as much as possible.
Smart Thermostats
These smart thermostats sense when the house is occupied and adapt to our changing schedules would help us reduce our energy use and money on our heating bills. The ecobee thermostats are easy to use and controllable from your smartphone. In addition to saving energy, this smart thermostat can automatically heat or cool your house when electricity is cheaper and cleaner, and adapt to the weather and the comfort of daily activities.
Green Power Outlets
Simply because our phone is not plugged into the charger or the coffee machine is not running, doesn’t mean the outlets are still generating power even if the appliance or device is turned off or “not in use”. This form of energy negatively affects the environment and also us paying for unnecessary energy. The options of eco-friendly outlets allow us to cut off all power to our devices with the simple turn of a dial, thus eliminating the majority of power wastage. It is a much easier investment rather than always unplugging the energy source.
Some methods involve technology, but others simply require a strong motivation in towards making a more sustainable and less wasteful future. We, as humans, need to be more aware of the environmental impact. This issue is why energy saving measures and tech products are important to leading a positive outcome for all of us.
