Bainvegni to Arosa Lenzerheide!
Two very well-known regions have been connected since 2014. It is an alpine valley that offers a wealth of possibilities both in winter and summer with its crystal clear mountain lakes, endless meadows, and babbling streams.
A short transit location from Chur, the oldest known settlement in Switzerland, Arosa Lenzerheide is the ideal setting for outdoor fanatics, winter sports enthusiasts or individuals seeking some tranquility outside of the buzzing city life. Why is it worth a visit, you ask? Arosa Lenzerheide is the home of the mesmerizing mountain cabin Ramozhütte. If you are looking for a remote and charming mountain hut, the history-steeped SAC Ramozhütte offers you just that.
Ramozhütte:
IN SHORT
- Location: Arosa, Switzerland
- Position: 2293 m above sea-level
- Difficulty level: medium
- Sleeps: 23 people
- Food: self-catering mountain hut
- Good to know: the hut is open all year round, the toilet can be found outside the hut, no key is needed for the hut
If you decide to go there at this time of the year, I suggest you go fully equipped:
This includes: show shoes, warm hiking clothes, walking sticks, plenty of water
Arosa – Welschtobel – Ramozhütte
The mountain path from Arosa leads to the Untersee. From this point onwards there is a wide path that leads to the entrance of the Welschtobel (a mountain valley). Here you can leave the road and take the hiking trail right up to the Ramozhütte. In total the hike will take you about 2.5 hours.
If you still wish to hike some more, let me tell you that Arosa Lenzerheide offers up to 300 km of marked hiking trails – therefore the ideal location to spend active days in the mountains. Several of the theme trails offer you exciting information on the nature, wildlife or legends of the region.
However, this weekend we placed our focus on the side of Lenzerheide. We explored areas round the ski-piste, which are all part of the winter hiking trails. We then hiked further down to the lake, where we were able to enjoy the sun in the glistening snow.
Fact O’Clock:
- Roger Federer, Swiss professional tennis player, has his vacation home in Lenzerheide
- 225 km of ski pistes and 43 cable cargs
- 5th largest ski resort in Switzerland
