Hey friend, I hope you had a wonderful week – thank you so much for hopping on my blog! I pray this post encourages you in your walk with God and helps you get to know Him better. 🤍 Today’s post is very special to me, and I love the topics we’ll discover together!
In this post, I will share three important ways to grow stronger in your relationship with God and get to know Him better. Let’s get started – I’m so happy and excited!
• Read His Word
• Pray to Him
• Build a Secret Place
1. Read His Word
I loooove His Word! It is so refreshing for the soul. Let’s make His Word our daily bread.
Make His word your daily bread.
Just as the body needs food, our soul needs spiritual nourishment – the Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, no problem! You can download a free Bible app here or get a free paper Bible here. I personally love to read His Word first thing in the morning, before checking any other messages – just Him and me.
If you’re new to this and want to get to know Jesus, reading His Word is a great place to start. I recommend beginning with the New Testament, and also reading Psalms and Proverbs. The Bible app also has many reading plans for different topics!
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
When you read the Bible, you get to know God – how He is, what characteristics He has, and how His mercy, grace, and love are displayed throughout the whole Bible.
Hebrews 13:8 says that He was, is, and will always be the same. This shows that God’s character is stable; He does not change like humans do.
Another Bible verse I love is about how God looks at the heart, not at outward appearance:
“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
His Word is a love letter to you, friend. The most beautiful love story you’ll ever hear is found in the Bible!
Two very beautiful Bible truths are:
- Nothing can separate us from God’s love:
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
No matter your situation, God will never leave you and He will never stop loving you.
- God’s love is unconditional:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
2. Pray to God
If someone asks, “How can you pray to God? How does it work?”—that’s a great question!
Reading His Word is His love letter to us, and praying is talking to God. Prayer is a way of communicating with the Most High. Just as you talk to your best friend or a family member, you can talk to God!
Talk to Him like to a best friend or a good father. And be completely honest. He knows all your thoughts anyway, friend.
There are different ways to pray, just as there are different things to talk about with a friend.
You can start your prayer by thanking Him—for a new day, for His mercy and grace, for blessings or even trials in your life.
You can also ask Him for help. The Bible says, “Ask and you will receive.” Of course, there is no guarantee that God will answer exactly as we want, because sometimes His plan is better than ours. But we can trust Him, because He is good.
Here’s a prayer I have on my heart for you, friend: 🤍
Jesus, I want to thank you for your grace. Thank you for my life on earth and this new day. Please bless this day and show me your beauty. Please protect me and help me grow closer to your heart. I thank you for your never-ending goodness. Please help me to get to know you better and bring me closer to your heart. Break my heart for what breaks yours. And help me to build a relationship with you. I want to get to know you better, Lord.
Amen.
3. Build a Secret Place
Friend, I love what we just discussed together! Reading His Word, praying to Him – so good. But now let’s talk about something that will level up your quiet time with God.
God’s presence: my favorite place to be. Even though you can meet God anywhere, it’s powerful to create a “secret place” – a special spot where you intentionally spend time with Him. Just like you would meet a friend for coffee, it helps to set aside a place and time for God. Try to make it a habit in your daily routine, maybe in the morning after you wake up or in the evening before bed.
Your secret place doesn’t have to be your room – it could be on the bus, train, or any spot where you can focus on God. The important thing is to intentionally spend time with Him.
A beautiful song called “Secret Place” by Jonathan Napoles can be found here.
If you enjoy soaking worship, you can also find inspiring playlists for deep worship and intimacy with God, such as this 3-hour instrumental soaking worship playlist on YouTube.

A secret place is so powerful for your relationship with God! There is a story in the Bible where Daniel was thrown in the lions’ den.
Daniel’s relationship to God and the trust he had in God was not built in public, but in private – where it was only God and him.
Even though it’s important to have a community and friends and family with whom you can pursue God together, it is so important to have intimate private conversations with God! That’s where you establish your relationship with Him.
Before we end… a reminder <3
What does a relationship with God look like?
A relationship with God is like a relationship with a best friend or a good father. It needs trust and time. But God is not like a human being – He is a good Father who is perfect and never makes mistakes.
And why is it important?
It is important to have a relationship with God because He is the only one who can satisfy your soul! Nothing in this world can fill the emptiness of your soul like Jesus. One of the coolest parts is that you are basically best friends with the King of Kings, Creator of heavens and earth. How cool is that? And you can share everything with Him!
One biblical truth that is so interesting is: God knows all your thoughts – past, present, and future. So you can be totally honest with Him. I find it so refreshing to be completely honest with God. 🤍
Even though it is important and nice to have a community and friends and family with whom you can pursue God together, it is so important to have intimate private conversations with God! That’s where you establish your relationship with Him!

I always read and respond to your comments, and your feedback helps me make this blog even better for you.
The idea of creating a ‘secret place’ really stood out to me—it’s such a beautiful way to foster a deeper, more intentional connection with God. Setting aside that quiet space has helped me experience His presence in a more personal way.
I have to be honest, I don’t know how to pray. But God knows what’s in my heart. If you ask you will receive. For me prayer is the most powerful you can do.
It’s like my husband, he doesn’t go and attend the service but he knows that God is always there for him. And he does pray every morning. He always said that he has a good relationship with God.
God bless you Dani 🙏
What a blessing! This was a good refresh to start my day☺️
