Sometimes the best meals are the simplest ones, especially when they feel a little fancy without breaking the bank.
Welcome back to Cook With Me for Less Than 5 Francs, where I show you how to eat well in Switzerland, even on a student budget.
Ingredients & Price
- Half bread (~0.50 CHF)
- A few slices of meat (ham, prosciutto, etc.) (~0.6 CHF)
- A spoonful of pesto (~0.10 CHF)
- A handful of arugula (~0.40 CHF)
- A few cherry tomatoes (~0.50 CHF)
- 1 burrata ball (~2.75 CHF)
- Salt, pepper
Total = 4.50 CHF
Step-by-Step Instructions

Slice your bread: Slice it in half lengthwise.

Spread the pesto: Go in with a generous layer on one or both sides of the bread.

Add your layers: Start with your meat, then top with arugula and sliced or halved cherry tomatoes.

Add the burrata: Tear it in half and place it on top of the other ingredients.

Season & finish: A pinch of salt, pepper, maybe a little more pesto drizzle — fold the sandwich, press it down gently… and enjoy!
