Again in the USA
Utah
Back in 2001, I had the chance to work at a ski resort in Park City, Utah, and let me tell you, it was just spectacular. ❄️ But first, we had to swing by San Francisco, California, to get some info about the program. San Francisco is like straight out of the movies! ? I caught a glimpse of Alcatraz from afar, and I reckon it’s worth checking out to see how much it resembles “The Rock.” ?
We finally made it to Utah after a few days, the heartland of the Mormons. Park City welcomed us with open arms, surrounded by stunning ski resorts like Deer Valley, Park City Resort, and The Canyons (where I worked). It was mind-blowing! ⛷️ I got to hit the slopes at each one, and what a rad experience it was! From the easy runs to the challenging ones, I ended up learning a bunch, and every minute I spent skiing was totally worth it.
I wholeheartedly recommend these kinds of trips working at ski resorts in different parts of the world. You meet people from all walks of life, all eager to share, connect, have fun, and break out of their comfort zones. And that’s what makes the journey so extraordinary!
If you ever get the chance to visit Utah, let me tell you, it’s a fantastic destination with some awesome ski parks (they hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002!), plus the Sundance Film Festival, where you might bump into some big-name actors. And the city boasts a fantastic selection of restaurants, a buzzing nightlife, and folks from around the globe coming to enjoy its beauty. Don’t miss out! ?
Missouri
In 2003, I had the opportunity to do my professional internship in St. Louis, Missouri. Let me tell you about this place: it’s home to the iconic Gateway Arch , the tallest arch in the world standing at an impressive 192 meters high and wide. It’s like the ultimate St. Louis experience, you know? Climbing up that monument and taking in the whole city from up there is absolutely priceless. You can see it all: the hustle and bustle of downtown, the majestic Mississippi River winding through the city and beyond. You can’t miss it. ?️
Oh, how could I forget! Nightlife in Missouri, like in any other state, used to end at 2 in the morning. But we had our trick up our sleeve: we’d cross the border and head to Illinois, where the party would go on until 6 in the morning. I swear, we’ve had some epic weekends thanks to that move. ?
Florida
In the following years, I made my way back to the United States, but this time it was purely for vacation—a chance to unwind and where better than sunny Florida?☀️
Let me tell you, Florida’s got it all: fantastic weather, loads of attractions, events, beaches, food—you name it.
?️ From Orlando, home to those jaw-dropping theme parks to the pristine shores of Sarasota, Clearwater, Fort Lauderdale, St. Augustine, and many more—there’s something for everyone.
Now, let me drop some recommendations on you: if you’re all about 3D thrills and roller coasters, hit up Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Busch Gardens. If you’re in the mood for some Disney magic, Disney World and Epcot Center have got you covered. And if you’re an animal lover, don’t miss out on SeaWorld and Animal Kingdom. And for those hot Florida days, cool off at Disney’s Blizzard Beach or Universal’s Volcano Bay. ?
When it comes to grub, you’ll find fast food joints on every corner, with prices to fit any budget. But if you’re feeling a bit fancier, there are plenty of restaurants serving up delicious cuisine from all over the world.
As for accommodations and car rentals, Florida’s got you covered, but during peak seasons like July and August, it’s a good idea to book in advance to snag the best deals. Trust me, you won’t regret spending your vacation soaking up the sun and fun in the Sunshine State! ?
