Clubhouse – Future perspectives

The number of active and new users in Clubhouse is decreasing, celebrities are leaving the social network, and moderators of popular rooms spend less and less time in it. What is happening on the voice social network now and why even the launch of an Android application may not return the audience’s previous interest to it? Is it losing its popularity? Does it worth to buy its shares?

Both venture capitalists and corporations are showing interest in voice platforms. Microsoft is discussing the purchase of Discord for more than $ 10 billion, Telegram launched voice chats, Clubhouse gained wild popularity. Such market interest in voice platforms could be a signal of the fact that the usual ways of communication are changing. However, the number of global downloads is declining. Why?

Based on the graph, we can assume that the rapid growth of the application is over. This is due to the fact that for people time and ease of use are essential and not less important than the content and its quality. Users of Clubhouse might be scared off by the fact that they have to adjust to the social network as conversations take place at a certain time and are not recorded. Moreover, they cannot decide by themselves whether they can speak and take part in some discussions or not. The most user-unfriendly issue in Clubhouse is that people cannot consume content when it is convenient for them. They have to schedule their audio-meetings and this is a big problem in our busy world. Users are not ready to spend half an hour on a conversation in Clubhouse in order to understand whether they are interested in it or not and they are not ready to search for content that interests them for too long.

Brain of a modern person is adapted to consume high variety of information within a short period of time. That’s why TikTok (the app where videos are about 15 sec) is more popular and user-friendly than Clubhouse with its long discussions.

Is it a challenge for the app creators? Definetly! Will they manage to rock it? Will see!
