Today’s inspiration brought to you by my weekend doodle!
Now, let’s talk screen time.
According to GSMA, a global association of mobile network operators, the world average time that adults spend on their phones each day is 4 hours and 37 minutes. We scroll, we swipe, we consume. And somewhere in all that consumption, we’ve lost space for daydreaming, curiosity, and play.
When was the last time you felt bored enough to imagine something?
The digital world demands our attention.
Creativity asks us to wander.
Now, don’t get me wrong, technology isn’t the enemy. Screens help us connect, learn, explore, and even create. They’re not going away, and honestly, I wouldn’t want them to…. I need my screen to facetime my mom half a world away! But living a creative life means intentionally making space for moments that don’t come with notifications or algorithms.
That’s why analog creativity, like doodling, is more essential now than ever. It slows us down. Grounds us in the moment. Wakes up the parts of our brain that scrolling tends to numb.
Even just a few screen-free minutes a day, spent scribbling or sketching, can refresh your mind and spark that playful, imaginative energy we all need more of. In a world that’s always on, doodling is a way to tune back into yourself.
Try it Today!
- Swap 5 minutes of scrolling time for doodling! See how you feel afterwards. You might not feel a shift after 1 time of trying, but maybe try doing it a few times this week and see how you feel!
No pressure. No perfection. Just pen to paper.
