Hiking the Hidden Stories of Switzerland

Explore hiking trails in Switzerland where myths, legends, and nature meet. Join Samet on a journey through hidden stories and scenic paths.

šŸŒ„ What if Every Hike Told a Story?

We often hike for the views, the silence, the sense of achievement. But what if, in between the rocks and roots, there were stories hidden? Not on signs or mapsā€”but in the land itself?

Iā€™ve always loved the feeling of walking alone in natureā€”when the world gets quiet enough that you can hear something deeper. Lately, Iā€™ve started to notice that some places feel different. Like they remember something. Like theyā€™re holding something.

Switzerland is known for its order, its beauty, its perfectly maintained trails. But underneath that polished surface, I believe thereā€™s something elseā€”something older. Something worth listening to.

šŸ‰ Why I Started Mythic Trails

Iā€™ve been living in Switzerland for about three years, and Iā€™ve spent most of my weekends escaping into the mountains. Whenever I feel tired of life, I create a nice hiking route, spend some time in the mountains, listen to the sounds of nature, and find inner peace.

But not long ago, while reading about a trail, I came across a single line that changed everything:

ā€œThis mountain is said to be home to a sleeping dragon.ā€

That was it. One sentence. One spark.

I started looking deeperā€”and I found story after story. Tales of witches gathering under full moons. Spirits haunting forests. Cursed lakes. Healing stones. Giants, devils, faeries.

Not just fantasy, but legends tied to real placesā€”places I could actually walk through.
Thatā€™s when this project was born.

Mythic Trails is my way of combining two things I love: hiking and storytelling.Itā€™s about walking through landscapes that hold memory. Itā€™s about seeing a mountain not just as a peak, but as a character in an ancient story.

And maybe, itā€™s about remembering that weā€™ve always told stories to understand the places we live in.

šŸ„¾ What Youā€™ll Find on This Blog

This isnā€™t a blog about the top 10 hikes in Switzerland or which boots to buy. Itā€™s about something more exciting and curious.
This blog is a blend of reality and folklore, meant to take you into both nature and narrative.

Each post will explore a hiking trailā€”but not just in terms of elevation gain or distance. Iā€™ll also share:

  • šŸ—ŗļø A legend or story tied to that place

  • šŸ„¾ My experience walking through it

  • āœļø Reflections and moments that stayed with me

  • šŸ”® Tips to experience the same atmosphere

  • šŸŒ„ The most memorable spots along the trail

Some of these stories will be myths and folklore, passed down through generations.
Others will be rooted in real history ā€” quiet moments or turning points that shaped the places we walk today.

If youā€™re someone who believes thereā€™s more to the world than what we seeā€”who feels something stir in deep woods or misty valleysā€”this space is for you.

šŸ§ Where the Trails Lead Next

I want this project to grow organically, one trail at a timeā€”guided by the stories I find, or the ones that find me.

Some will be well-known legends. Others may be forgotten or half-remembered. Some might come from locals, from old books, from whispered traditions passed down through generations.

And thatā€™s exactly what makes it exciting.

Up next: RĆ¼tli ā€” where three cantons once stood together, and the idea of Switzerland was born.

šŸŒ² Join Me on the Mythic Trails

This isnā€™t just about hikingā€”itā€™s about listening. Itā€™s about seeing landscapes not as empty spaces, but as story-holders.
Memory-keepers. Portals.

If this resonates with you, follow the journeyā€”one trail, one legend, one story at a time.
And if youā€™ve ever hiked somewhere that felt different, Iā€™d love to hear about it in the comments.
