DIY: Bath Bombs and Salts

Hello beautiful readers! ?

Step into the tranquil world of bath bombs and salts, where relaxation meets aromatic fragrances thanks to the use of essential oils.

“As important as it is to have a plan for doing work, it is perhaps more important to have a plan for rest, relaxation, self-care, and sleep.” – Akiroq Brost ?

Drawing inspiration from Brost’s wise words, allow me to share that immersing myself in a bath is among my cherished rituals for relaxation and self-care.

DIY: Simple Bath Salt

Bath salt is a delightful concoction made from salt, often enhanced with a blend of essential oils, herbs and flowers. It can nurture the skin, soothe tired muscles, and melt away stress. What makes homemade bath salts particularly appealing is the freedom to tailor the ingredients and fragrances precisely to your preferences and needs.

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. Choose your salt and measure the desired amount: Depending on the size of your bathtub and the desired intensity, you can vary the amount of salt. I generally choose 250 grams.
  2. Add the 60 grams Baking Soda
  3. Add 15 drops of essential oil of your choice: Per 100g of salt it is recommended to use max. 10 drops of essential oils.
  4. Optional: Add some dried herbs or flowers to the mixture and mix everything thoroughly.
  5. Optional: If you want to color your bath salt, add 1 tbsp. dye and stir well until the color is evenly distributed.
  6. Fill the finished bath salt into a glass jar
  7. Allow the bath salt to rest for a bit before using it. This allows the scents and ingredients to fully develop.

Benefits:

  • Sea salt acts as a detoxifier and acts as a cleansing scrub & promotes circulation, natural antiseptic properties.
  • Baking soda balances the pH of the water and nourishes your skin.
  • Essential oils give the bath salt a pleasant scent and can have relaxing and balancing effects depending on your choice.

Mix the ingredients thoroughly in a bowl and then transfer them to an airtight glass jar. Your homemade bath salt is now ready for use or as a thoughtful gift for friends and family.

DIY: Simple Bath Bombs

And if you’ve ever wondered about the magic behind those effervescent bath bombs, wonder no more. I would like to share a simple yet sensational recipe for crafting three bath bombs.

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. Melt the vegetable oil in a water bath.
  2. Stir in 120 grams baking soda, 60 grams citric acid, and 30 grams starch until a homogeneous, smooth dough forms.
  3. Add 8 drops essential oils.
  4. Optional: Add some flower petals or dried herbs as desired or DYE. The mixture should now be neither too oily nor too grainy.
  5. Knead the bath bombs into a round ball or press them firmly into molds.
  6. Let the molds sit for at least 1 hour. The best is if you let it rest overnight.

For a truly indulgent bath experience, follow these steps:
  • Add the bath salt to the running water 10 minutes before bathing to ensure even distribution of the ingredients.
  • Check that the water temperature is between 36-38°C to avoid damaging the essential oils.
  • Relax in the bath for 20 minutes to allow the bath salt’s and bombs benefits to take effect without straining your circulation. Use this time to relax or meditate.
  • Enhance your ambiance with candles and soothing music.
  • After bathing, gently rinse your body to remove any salt residue, then pat your skin dry and moisturize.
  • Follow up your bath with a restful period.

Precautions when utilizing essential oils (EO):
  • always perform an allergy test on the elbow before use (at least 24 hours) because EO can be potentially irritating
  • avoid eye contact
  • keep away from heat and light
  • be careful when using EO, never exceed the recommended dose
  • do not use during pregnancy or while breast-feeding
  • do not use on children

⚠️: Before you follow my instructions, I strongly suggest you to first identify the products your skin cannot tolerate to avoid allergic reactions, because yes even if a product is 100% natural it cannot be suitable for you.
