#1 Petrus
Discover Petrus, a café-restaurant nestled in the lively Himmelrich district of Neustadt. Renowned for its fresh, modern cuisine, Petrus is much more than just a café. Featuring a spacious coworking space, you’ll find large tables ideal for working alone or in a group. The interior is beautifully decorated, and an outdoor terrace invites you to soak up the sun while sipping a refreshing after-work drink. With a menu that changes with the seasons and affordable prices, you also have the option of enjoying delicious dishes on the premises. Petrus offers the perfect combination of work and relaxation, making it one of Lucerne’s best cafés for mobile workers.

#2 Parterre

Parterre offers a spacious haven where vintage charm meets modern comfort. Unlike its bustling equivalents, Parterre remains refreshingly uncrowded on weekends, making it an inviting spot for both group activities and solo work sessions.
While coffee may not be the main attraction here, the Parterre offers a tempting selection of snacks, weekly changing menus and tasty brunch options on weekends to satisfy every craving. And when it’s time for a break, the charming terrace provides a picturesque setting to relax, while the pool table offers a playful diversion for friends.

#3 Tacuba
Nestled in the heart of the Neustadt (yep, that’s my hood haha), Cafe Tacuba is a versatile establishment that serves as both a coffee shop and a neighborhood café during the day, transitioning into a bar with a romantic evening atmosphere at night. Known for their in-house roasted coffee beans, they offer a variety of sustainable and high-quality coffee drinks, with my personal favorite being their iced chai latte.
While there are pastries and aperitifs on offer for those in need of a snack, they’re not particularly noteworthy. Its location just a short 6-minute walk from the station makes it a convenient choice for students. The café boasts a modern and bright ambiance with a cozy atmosphere. However, due to its popularity, it can get quite crowded and noisy. It’s worth noting that if you plan on working there, it’s best to visit on a weekday as laptop use is prohibited on weekends.
- Price of an Expresso ☕: 4.20 CHF
- Pros: Offers a variety of sustainable and high-quality coffee drinks – a go-to spot for coffee enthusiasts.
- Cons: Crowded atmosphere during peak times and no laptops allowed on weekends.

#4 Two Hands
Discover Two Hands, a charming coffee house nestled next to helvetiagärtli, just an 8-minute walk from the train station. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy every moment of your day. Whether you’re craving a delicious breakfast, superb coffees, fresh juices and smoothies, tempting daily specials, or homemade treats, Two Hands has something for everyone.
The café welcomes guests every day, even on Sundays, from 7:30 am to help you start your day right. Just keep in mind that it closes at 5:30 pm daily. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, try visiting during off-peak hours, especially on weekends. While the interior of Two Hands is aesthetically pleasing, providing a great setting for studying, working, or snapping Instagram-worthy photos, it’s worth noting that tables can be a bit cozy for larger groups.
