Long before I decided to go vegan, bacon was a staple in my breakfast routine and a beloved addition to my burgers. The smoky, savory flavor and crispy texture were hard to beat. But when I transitioned to a plant-based lifestyle, I knew I had to find a way to recreate that beloved bacon experience.
After trying out different recipes and experimenting with various ingredients and techniques, I finally perfected a vegan bacon recipe that hits all the right notes.

Ingredients:
- 3 pcs. of Rice Paper
- 5-6 tbsp. Sunflower Oil (or any other natural oil)
- 2-3 tbsp. Soy Sauce
- 2-3 tbsp. Maple Syrup ?
- 1-2 tbsp. Sriracha
- 1-2 tsp. Garlic Powder ?
- 4-5 tbsp. Smoked Paprika ?️ (or Liquid Smoke)
Step 1
Prepare two bowls: one empty for the marinade and another with warm (not boiling) water. Start by mixing all the ingredients in the empty bowl. Adjust the amounts to your taste—add more maple syrup if you prefer it sweeter or more smoked paprika if you like it really smoky. You can also add Liquid Smoke, but be cautious as it can become overpowering quickly. Ensure the marinade is not too thick, adding more natural oil if needed.
Step 2
Soak the rice paper in warm water for about 10 seconds. Then, coat each piece in the marinade, ensuring both sides are well covered. Cut the marinated rice paper into strips; larger pieces are fine as they will shrink during frying.
Step 3
Heat a generous amount of natural oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Be sure your stove is on medium heat; anything higher will burn the bacon quickly. Fry the rice paper strips for about 30-45 seconds on one side, then flip and fry for another 30 seconds. Let them dry on a paper towel before serving to achieve extra crispiness.
You can easily reheat it in the oven the next day.
Enjoy your vegan bacon! ??
Sincerely,
Veganick ?
