Hello beautiful readers!
Looking for a simple way to achieve soft, smooth lips? With just a few simple ingredients, you can create your own lip balm and lip scrub right at home with essential oils as a base.
“Self-care is how you take your power back.” – Lalah Delia ?
Inspired by Delia’s wise words, I would like to emphasize the importance of taking care of yourself. Why not start by creating your own self-care products? Let’s get started with DIY lip scrubs and balms. These recipes are easy to follow and perfect for keeping your lips smooth and hydrated.
DIY: LIP Balm
Do you know that feeling when you have dry lips, especially in winter times? Create your own lip balm with natural ingredients that helps to smooth and soothe dry lips.
Ingredients:
Steps:
- Sanitize: Rinse all utensils and containers with boiled water.
- Melt: In a double boiler, melt the wax and shea butter (or olive oil) together.
- Add Essential Oil: Stir in 3 drops of peppermint or lavender essential oil.
- Fill Containers: Use a small syringe to transfer the liquid into an empty chapstick tube or a small jar.
- Harden: Allow a few hours for the mixture to harden before use.
The lip balm can be kept for many months.
Benefits :
- Moisturization: help to hydrate and moisturize the lips, preventing them from becoming dry, chapped, or cracked.
- Healing: beeswax and shea butter can help to soothe and repair damaged lips.
- Prevention: can prevent issues such as infections and inflammation.
- Appearance: make a natural glow and freshness on the face.
DIY: Lip Scrub
Chapped lips can be frustrating, and relying solely on lip balm might not solve the problem. If dryness is an ongoing issue, consider giving a lip scrub a try. Lip scrubs provide physical exfoliation for your lips, which are particularly vulnerable to harsh environmental conditions.
Ingredients:
Steps:
- Mix 2 tbsp finely ground sugar, 1 tbsp olive oils, 1/2 tsp honey.
- Add 1-2 drops of sweet orange essential oil.
- Apply a small amount to your lips and make circular movements.
Benefits:
- Exfoliation: aid in the removal of dead skin cells
- Stimulation of Blood Flow: promote blood circulation by gentle massaging action.
- Enhanced Absorption: allow lip balms to penetrate more effectively, providing better hydration and nourishment to the lips.
? I would like to outline some benefits of the essential oils used for the lip balm and scrub:
- Peppermint: it has natural healing and exfoliating properties, coupled with moisturizing and plumping effects.
- Lavender: it soothes dry and irritated lips with a long-lasting protection.
- Sweet Orange: aid in healing dry lips thanks to its natural anti-inflammatory properties.
Precautions when utilizing essential oils (EO):
- always perform an allergy test on the elbow before use (at least 24 hours) because EO can be potentially irritating
- avoid eye contact
- keep away from heat and light
- be careful when using EO, never exceed the recommended dose
- do not use during pregnancy or while breast-feeding
- do not use on children
⚠️: Before you follow my instructions, I strongly suggest you to first identify the products your skin cannot tolerate to avoid allergic reactions, because yes even if a product is 100% natural it cannot be suitable for you.
