Securing Job Interviews in Switzerland (No need for German/French)

From what I have seen, the majority of students would rather secure a job than starting their own business.

That is still fine, as long as the job gives you some sort of motivation.

Whether be it passion or money or flexibility, whatever.

But, for us students, is hard to get jobs in Europe.

Why?

Mainly because of work experience.

You may have a degree, maybe even some skills, but no experience.

Try to put yourself in the position of an employer.

Would you give yourself that job?

If yes, what is the advantage of hiring you instead of someone else?

These are the questions you should be asking yourself.

Now, before I tell you how to secure a job interview, let me tell you when you should not apply.

When in the job description clearly is stated the years of experience required.

If you read things like; ”good communication” or ”able to manage stress” – don’t worry!

These two are not important at all. Even the language/s you speak is so.

To be even more open with you, even where you come from does not matter at all.

I come from Albania and I do not speak German or French.

Here you can see two of many interviews that I secured. (For confidentiality I had to hide some info, but you can see the companies)

So, what is stopping you?

If you have you applied to 100 jobs and still not gotten to any interview, the problem is your CV.

Nobody will read your cover letter, trust me. If so then why they would need the interview?

You need a CV that stands out! They need to see not only what degrees/certificates you have…

They should be able to see how you look like when you speak and what experience you have.

It should be crystal clear that you are someone that can be trusted.

You are going to have information about the company that will hire you.

Or, even if it is the easiest job, like opening the restaurant in the morning, THEY SHOULD TRUST YOU.

You have to deliver on time, because the company counts on you.

A lot of students in Europe, think that they are entitled to a job.

As if it was meant that they should get a job regardless of their performance.

It is true that you know some stuff better than people who have jobs do, no doubt.

You have abilities and you can do things better than them.

But, this ”game” is all about trust.

For example, when I apply they see THIS CV.

On THIS CV they can understand what I do and what value I add to the company.

It is 1 page and precise.

They get to see my face and how I talk.

BONUS: Some jobs need you to travel so include you driving license and/or travel cards.

But, the CV alone is not enough.

CV is like the packaging,

Cover letter is like the product inside.

No one will read your cover letter, unless they like your CV.

Grab their attention!

They read thousands of CVs every week…

If all they see is: 24 years old student. Ok, so what?

They need a reason in CV and a proof in Cover Letter.

Look at this part of my Cover Letter:

As I mentioned before, I had my sunglasses venture. (It is paused at the moment)

In the cover letter I talk about how I was doing it all by myself. (with some freelancers)

I was able to run ads, schedule the content, improve conversions, fulfil orders, etc.

They can see that when I achieved to work with 50 influencers and deliver real products.

All this with limited budget, imagine what I can do if I am part of their team.

You don’t need to have job as a marketeer of a company to gain experience – you can market something of you own.

You don’t need to have a job as an architect or developer to gain experience – you can do that on the side.

Expect maybe for doctors (haha joke)

Pretty much every job can be practised on your own.

You then create like a portfolio of your work.

That you include in your cover letter.

That is it.

Go ahead now, make a CV that says what you bring to the company and make a cover letter that proofs that.
