One of the most beloved and popular tourist attractions in Lucerne is the Swiss Museum of Transport (Verkehrshaus). To me, as a person who is not generally super excited about cars, trains, and airplanes, it did not sound that interesting. However, Verkehrshaus is not simply a museum showcasing the transport and its history. It truly is an attraction where everyone will find something exciting to do. Besides of obvious exposition of transport, it has Planetarium, 3D-Movie Theater, Climbing Wall, Swiss Chocolate Adventure, Racing Simulator, and much more! So here are 5 exciting things to do in the Swiss Museum of Transport, even if you are not a transport fan.
1. Racing Simulator.

I might not be a car fan, but I like driving. And trying out a safe racing simulator sounds great!
With the Nervtech Motion Simulator, you experience racing action on virtual Grand Prix circuits from the cockpit of a Red Bull Racing car and compete against Red Bull athletes while the cockpit simulates all the real motions of acceleration, braking and steering. – Verkehrshaus.com
2. Climbing wall. The Virtual Climbing Experience to the Matterhorn.
This experience is not your usual climbing wall. It is supported by the 360 degrees VR set. When you start climbing the wall you see yourself climbing up the Matterhorn. How amazing is that?
3. Planetarium.
This is one of the largest and most innovative planetariums in Switzerland. Currently, they have various 3D shows about space that you can watch, or you could also rent the planetarium for your own event or presentation.
4. 3D Movie Theater.
Here you can see 3D movies about dinosaurs, ocean creatures, animated movies and more. This theatre is believed to have the biggest screen in Switzerland. If you ask me, it’s worth seeing it. BTW, this theatre can also be rented for a private event.
5. Swiss Chocolate Adventure
Chocolate in the Transport Museum? Unexpected, yet delicious. If you are as big a chocolate fan as I am, you will love it.
The only visitor experience of its kind in Switzerland, the Swiss Chocolate Adventure explains the discovery, provenance, manufacture and transport of chocolate in around 20 minutes. Immerse yourself in the world of chocolate in Switzerland’s most-visited museum. With its focus on this sweet speciality, the experience is a feast for the eyes, ears and taste buds. After the adventure ride, you have a chance to taste various creations provided by Lindt’s master chocolatiers. – Verkehrshaus.com
This is it for today. I believe that the Swiss Museum of Transport is an absolute must on your travel bucket list. Visit their official website for their opening hours and tickets purchase.
