Today I will be writing about Andrew Huberman. He’s the G.O.A.T of optimising health outcomes with science based actionable tools (quote from someone dear to me, also the person who put me onto him). He takes all of the big science terms and goes into great detail to explain everything on a basic level. He takes topics and backs them up with science, which is reassuring because we live in a time when so much information is unsubstantiated.
Who is Andrew Huberman, PhD? (@hubermanlab), is a neuroscientist and tenured professor in the Department of Neurobiology at Stanford University’s School of Medicine. He has made numerous important contributions to the fields of brain development, brain function, and neural plasticity. Andrew is a McKnight Foundation and Pew Foundation fellow and recipient of the 2017 Cogan Award for his discoveries in the study of vision. Work from the Huberman Laboratory at Stanford Medicine has been consistently published in top journals including Nature, Science, and Cell.
Andrew Huberman is the principal investigator and Head of Huberman Laboratory, which studies how the brain works, how it changes and adapts as a result of experiences, and how it recovers from disease or injury.
Andrew Huberman’s YouTube channel and podcast explain many of their findings in lay terms. It is part of his desire to provide free education to the general public. The Huberman Lab Podcast explores neuroscience, or how our brain and its connections with our body’s organs control our perceptions, behaviours, and health. He also discuss existing and emerging tools for measuring and altering the functioning of our nervous system.
I’ve found a few of his podcasts to be extremely insightful; they may be a little lengthy, but trust me, they’re worth it.
Below is a list of some of my favourite podcasts:
THE SCIENCE OF GRATITUDE & HOW TO BUILD A GRATITUDE PRACTICE
DR. MATTHEW JOHNSON: PSYCHEDELIC MEDICINE
UNDERSTAND & IMPROVE MEMORY USING SCIENCE-BASED TOOLS
DR. JACK FELDMAN: BREATHING FOR MENTAL & PHYSICAL HEALTH & PERFORMANCE
Huberman Lab is the website where you can find all of his podcasts. You can listen to them on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts.
Please let me know if you decide to listen to him!
