What can we learn from the most Eco-Friendly Countries?

The world is making progress toward becoming green, especially to maintain the balance between the environment and its economy. It may encourage local companies to join the trend, change their business, and operate in a more environmentally friendly manner. Similarly, citizens will be encouraged by local governments that have shown a positive attitude towards environmental health. It is quite easy to develop an environment-friendly society if local governments promote green and environmental protection culture in these five different fields.

It is important to understand and be alert to which countries and cities are taking action in the eco-friendly approach and aiming to become more sustainable. There are problems with too much traffic and causing pollution to the air or not teaching how to recycle properly or waste less in crowded areas and even in small towns. We must learn as a society and improve these problems as a whole in order to make a difference. Reason because some countries are leading more than others is because they truly care. Of course, the factors in our mind about wealth, location, education, previous disasters, and much more make it hard to judge why one is better than the other. However, if we notice we are less or could be doing more, why don’t we do it? What we need to improve on to countries who are not in the top greenest countries, by establishing new and improved national policies and making sure citizens are doing their part. Here is what we can learn from the top 5 eco-friendly countries.

1. Switzerland

Beautiful mountains, a fresh abundance of water, and peaceful countrysides. But not only the amount of resources they have but how well they made in preserving them. They have implemented environmental policies that give the priority in renewable energy. They plan and protect the spread of new buildings to reduce the amount of overpopulation and pollution. Switzerland has a very complex recycling method and reduce as much as possible wastage. Also, taking care of their land and soil, with supporting their local farmers and trained specialist in protecting the natural land.

2. France

France is known to trying to protect the Earth and dedication to eco-friendly changes. The country incorporates ways of preserving our natural resources and limiting the damage we do on the environment. The society values public transportation and builds a road entirely from old roads and recycled materials. What I thought was cool and clever, what they have installed are solar-powered walkways, to generate power for streetlights. Looking in the years ahead, France wants to ban clothing stores to throw away unsold clothes, set up more electric cars on the roads and more recyclable packaging. Aiming for a more sustainable future!

3. Denmark

Denmark has built a green culture in their country and are a leading example for taking care of the planet. They focus mainly bike, wind, and trash when it comes to saving the environment. Denmark has a wind farm that generates the countries energy supply. The country also established a large bike culture, where they limit more parking for bikes than cars. Leaving but no choice than to take the bike more often. As well as raise high taxes on cars and gas, making you want to take the bike.

4. Malta

Malta beating countries like Sweden and Austria may come as a surprise. First of all, this is a small country. However, they are on the right path towards a greener future. According to the EPI Standards, Malta is doing well in the Water and Sanitation categories as well as limited to pollution because they don’t involve in fossil fuels and gas distribution. The country has also been valuing solar and renewable energy, making it one of the top countries on the ranking board.

5. Sweden

Sweden is ranked as one of the most sustainable countries. Reason is they encourage high citizen interaction, high ambition levels, and harmony. They encourage their people to reuse and recycle as much as they can. The fashion industry is increasing in second-hand items and recycled materials. The country also has a high carbon tax, trying to reduce the amount of car use and energy. Also, what I thought was cool is that they built their homes that are designed to save energy and use human’s heat to warm up their houses.

A nation’s sustainability can be affected for many reasons, such as conflicts, water crisis, disasters, unemployment, and governance failures. Or even more simply, the lack of care and motivation. These top 5 countries are demonstrating the significance of sustainable development and making it possible for any other country.
