Don’t expect that it will work out when you picked just somebody you felt good about on social media.
To find a right partner, you have to do some research about how can she/he contribute to your business.
Based on Steve Goldstein from PR News, I recommend these 11 points as the most important factors to make sure that the influencer that you find is the right fit for your “campaign” not only your brand.
-
Size of audience/followers
- How many audience do this person have?
- Is it enough?
-
The Image of Influencer
- What does audience expect to see from her?
- Is she/he matching to your brand image/campaign goal?
-
Engagement rate
- How many likes and comments per post does this influencer have on average?
-
Momentum
- How is the growth rate and speed of account and audience?
-
Sentiment
- What type of comments the influencer have been receiving?
- Is she/he reciprocating engagement with followers?
-
Sphere of Network
- How wide/deep is the her/his network with other influencers?
- Do they have similar interests and audience segment as her?
-
Demographics of audience
- If audience/followers profile matches your targeting segment
-
Experience as influencer
- Has she/he previously worked with other companies as well?
- If yes, how is she advertising products on her account?
- If no, does she/he have a potential?
-
Ease of collaboration
- How easy is it to collaborate with her/him? (e.g. another country, speaks languages you want to publish your campaigns, etc)
-
Price
- How much does it cost to hire this influencer?
- If it’s a bit expensive, do you think it will pay off?
-
Current projects with your competitors
- Is this influencer currently working on projects with your competitors?
There are many more things you can check before contacting influencers, but you can start with this checklist and add other points as you find it necessary.
