Today, it is no longer a question of why the Philippines is the leading outsourcing destination. A lot of international companies are realizing the value of delegating time-consuming yet necessary company tasks to Filipinos to save costs, increase their productivity, and accommodate growth.
In my previous blog (Why Outsource Online Jobs in the Philippines), I mentioned about the demands and frequently outsourced online jobs in the Philippines. There’s no doubt that one of the Philippines’ advantages is their English proficiency. But the question is, is outsourcing in the Philippines exclusively for English companies?
I had a chat with the Founder and CEO of the world’s leading outsourcing marketplace and advisory to provide us further insights about the potentials of outsourcing in the Philippines.
Derek Gallimore has been in business for 20 years, outsourcing 8+ years and living in Manila (the heart of global outsourcing) since 2014. Outsource Accelerator offers the world’s leading aggregator marketplace for outsourcing. It specifically provides the conduit between Philippines outsourcing suppliers and the businesses – clients – across the globe.
Aileen: What are the good things about outsourcing online jobs in the Philippines?
Derek: The Philippines is the world leader in professional staff outsourcing. It employs about 1.3M people and covers the full spectrum of professional services. The incredible advantage of globalized employment on offshore staffing is that there is a huge salary difference between countries in the West and the Philippines. This means this is a huge opportunity for businesses in the West to access globalize talent and workforce.
Aileen: I would be very interested in speaking with you about the potential services of Outsourcing in the Philippines for non-English speaking Europeans. I assume that most of the clients are Americans, Australians, and British but can you give some insights into how you see the potential for non-English clients or we see it exclusively for English companies?
Derek: So really anyone around the world can benefit from Philippines ‘ professional staffing services, including Switzerland. The sort of critical aspect is any professional role can be successfully fulfilled from the Philippines and the language is obviously an issue. If any of the business done in English then it’s pretty much seamless and the Philippines has native tongue English so if the business requirement is in English then absolutely a huge opportunity to bring business in the Philippines. Anything from the back office to the front office to operations to technical activities, it’s all available.
Aileen: Is there a demand so far from non-English clients?
Derek: Yeah, of course. You know I mean the US is obviously a big client because it’s also the biggest economy in the world. Australia, a relatively small economy, but have reasonable size client, you get businesses from all around the world for outsourcing. Of course, if they don’t speak English or don’t have English as a form of interaction then there is a greater level of friction that maybe it isn’t worth to outsourced. But if English is one of the major languages in the business, then it’s a great opportunity. We see clients from the Middle East, other Southeast Asian countries like Singapore, Hongkong, we have clients in China who wants to bridge with the West and some part of Europe as well.
Aileen: What are possible pitfalls or challenges that might encounter in outsourcing?
Derek: Outsourcing is an incredible business tool. It’s one of the most potent business tools available to small to medium size of businesses today, but it’s not necessarily a magic bullet. There are a lot of nuances in outsourcing to make outsourcing really work well for you and for your business. It takes quite a lot of practice and tweaking. There a lot of people walking away for outsourcing very disappointed and it also has a bad reputation. So it’s by no means a magic bullet, but it is one of the most potent and powerful tools out there. It just takes the correct operational execution, correct strategy, and correct approach.
With that said, stay tuned and keep learning more about digital marketing and outsourcing landscape in the Philippines in our future posts.
