Last Minute Packing Game Prototype

It’s the same situation every time…

You’re about to go on a trip.
Your suitcase lies before you, but it’s still empty.
You cannot decide which clothes to pack – how cold will it be? Is there a dress code? Should you take along your favourite rubber ducky?
You scurry about your house collecting items, then try to cram all of your possessions into an old suitcase whilst fighting the laws of physics.

This scenario is what inspired us to begin prototyping a game.

We’ve set our focus on the packing mechanics, where we explored rotating and moving items, storing them in boxes and implementing folding and rolling variants for t-shirts.

What’s next?

Packing Experience

We plan to dive deeper into the packing mechanics and determine the kind of experience we would like our players to have. Asking ourselves and our audience what else we could add and in what ways we could play with rotating, folding and compressing items. Additionally, we will introduce a level system where each level features a different travel occasion, bringing with it different requirements and challenges.

Distracting Factors

We’ve received feedback that suggested to implement distracting elements into the gameplay, which is something we would like to test. Keep a look out for a furry companion that might be joining in on the packing experience.

Art Direction

As we are still trying to find our stance between cozy, puzzle and hectic gameplay, we will also be experimenting with different art styles.

We hope we could gain your interest in our upcoming game project 🙂
