STUG1 Week 2 – BrewCrew

This week we rediscussed our game idea multiple times. We had some new features that we wanted to add and some that we decided to discard. For example, we agreed on making the witches shop in a waggon so she can travel from village to village. We added a merchant character that will visit the shops at the end of each game day to sell the village-specific seeds. We added reputation system, where the witch has to maintain the trust of the people and avoid raising their suspicions. We also made a new paper prototype and played it through roughly. We will have to repeat the prototyping step in the following week. We decided more or less on our art style. We want to make cutesy looking game so the proportions of the characters will be something in between of realistic and chibi style. Something like a cartoon would be nice. We will use toon/cell shading. The setting is medieval so we will use more muted or earthy tones in our color scheme. We hope to create a cozy atmosphere with these art style  decisions. We have collected some inspirations for that on a Miro board. We also created a flowchart with all of the resources and their influence to one another and an excel sheet where we noted all the different types of plants, seeds, customers and so forth. We also jotted down our rules for the game.

Next week we will continue prototyping a few more times and will ask other students to participate and try it out. We might start witch sketches for the assets and the world in general.
