STUGA2 – Week 2
This was a very productive week. We now have a playable build with a proper layout design and a lot of assets. The story comes along nicely as well.
On the surface, the game seems like basic management game, but there is a underlying story that told only by interacting with the NPC that regularly visit the Graveyard. The Protagonist is completely silent, so you have to puzzle the clues together yourself to find out what happened or is still happening in the background. There will be a system in which you can change to the next day whenever you please, but if you do that too early you might miss some important information.
While the story unfolds you’ll have to take care of the Graveyard by doing some daily chores like watering flowers, cutting bushes or pulling weed out of the ground. Andy managed to implement these mechanics very nicely with an interaction mechanic with text and dialog included. It’s even possible to generate the weed or alike randomly. There’s also already a mechanic to switch to the next day with the layout changing.
All of this is accompanied by very nice art assets Seraphine made. We’ve got some beautiful trees,
other plants,
tombstones,
character sprites, a small house and more.
With all that we almost have all the basic building blocks to make our game. We’ll get much more concrete next week.
I really like where this is going.
