This week we have completely defined our idea and we are in the process of starting the production of our game. We made a lot of concept art for the characters and also the waggon. And we have drawings for the various problems of the villagers such as wounds and burns etc. Some assets, the cauldron for example, were already attempted and maybe even finished in Blender. We pitched the game idea this morning and got a lot of good feedback.
For our characters, it was suggested that we go completely chibi-style so that the cuteness really comes through. We tried it out and changed the concept art for Rosie to a chibi styled one. But us designers are still not entirely sure if that really is the right move for our game. We think that we will try it out in Blender and then we will see what looks better.
As for the programming, we have a prototype where we can walk around in an open room and pick up cylinders with both hands and put them down again. Our Talented programmer made it, so that the hands are respectively controlled by either left-click or right click on the mouse.
We also got some feedback about the coziness of our game. They said that it is a bit strange that there are such brutal elements in a cozy game, such as burning the witch at the stake and all the severe injuries that are to be treated. So we will see what we can do to lessen the stark contrast so we can keep the name „Cozy Cauldron“. We might have to change the burning ending and the wounds that are too brutal visually, or maybe we can manage to ‚cutify‘ them.
Next week we will definitely start to build the assets and characters in blender. And maybe we need some concept art for the plants and seeds too?
