Handy Ping Pong Woche 5
Changes
Since the last blog-post a lot of things changed. This week Philipp from Okomotive came to our class and gave a talk. Afterwards i had had the opportunity to talk with him about my game. It was really inspiring. We talked about the flow state you reach when playing ping pong casually. You’re talking with your friend but not too complicated topics because you still need to focus on hitting the ball. That’s actually the feeling i want to achieve with my game. This requires a good balancing. We also talked about rhythm becauses Ping Pong is a very rhythmic game. That’s why my PingPong game goes into a rhythm game direction now. The longer the rally takes the crazier the visuals and the audio get. It really needs to be a bit overstimulating. That’s what i tried to achieve with my Concept art:
At the beginning everything is clean and minimalistic.

The longer you play, the faster the ball gets and the crazier the visuals will be. Maybe something like Ping Pong on LSD.

Another fun idea would be that the ball color changes oon the beat:

No Rhythm without Music
Like i mentioned before i’m also working on music that works with the game. I think it will add so much to the experience.
