One Group at a time the 12 Students of HSLU Lucerne and 6 Students of IIT Roorkee University, Delhi arrived at their accommodation in UTC College. After getting to know each other, all participants were divided into groups. Together they got to explore Bangalore on walks through the different quarters of the fast growing City. Bangalore shows a diversity of cultures, organization and development. The population doubled in the last 15 years to up to 13 million registered citizens.

The muslim patr of the City.

Testing public transportation – thankfully not during rushhour.

IIM Bangalore – B.V. Doshi

Its campus area is over 100 acres, designed by architect B.V. Doshi, a Pritzker Prize winner. Climatologically apt the precisely planned building is well integrated and balanced with nature. It plays with light and shadows, while directing the look of its observer. The place has a very calming, grounding feeling.

Divya Shanthi Campus – Flying Elephant Studio

As part of its centenary, this multi-program building was added to the campus as an extension to the already built school-buildings. It includes a dormitory for orphans, teacher training center, primary healthcare clinic, a community library, dining hall and additional facilities for the school each space separated by a color code. The ‘double skin’ facade allows ventilation and provides shade through steel louvers.

Swissnex, Bangalore

3rd day morning at Bangalore the students visited Swissnex, one of the sponsors of the summer school project. Swissnex helps swiss start-ups to connect with Indian entrepreneurs, who might find interest in their project and get them market ready.

There were highly interesting discussions about cultural differences and changes and how the students, who are the future in building, might react to upcoming problems.

Travel to Auroville

After four days in Bangalore it was time to travel further to Auroville. On our way, we made a stop at Arunachalam Temple.
