The discovery system (formerly library catalog) swisscovery RZS – HSLU offers a list of all media (books, e-books, journals, articles, databases, etc.) that are available in libraries in the Lucerne area and the HSLU license area. Please note that it is best to start your search on the „green“ interface (i.e. the HSLU interface).
The landing page offers you introductory information on the registration process, the use of the VPN, contact details of the libraries, as well as links to video tutorials.
It is advisable to register before beginning your search. This will allow you to order books, save your searches, and gives you an overview of your library account, including all your loans and their loan periods. The login link can be found in the top right-hand corner of the homepage. You do not need to register to search for electronic media. However, you must access the HSLU network (via VPN or via the HSLU WLAN).
Literature Search
Swisscovery offers a simple search bar where you can enter your search terms, but also an „advanced search“. With the „advanced search“ you can limit your search to certain fields (e.g. title, author, etc.) and link your search terms with Boolean operators.
If the number of your search results is too large, you can use the filter options on the left-hand side of the results list. This allows you to restrict your results to a specific time period (e.g. only media published in the last 5 years), language (e.g. only media in German) or a specific media type (e.g. books). If you are only looking for e-books or electronic journals, use the filter „Available online“.
Order/Borrow Media
From Monday to Friday, the Central Switzerland Courier delivers books to all affiliated libraries. If you order media to one of the locations below, they should be delivered within two working days and will be available for collection at the information desk or on the self-collection shelf for one week. You will be informed by e-mail when an ordered item arrives at the pick-up location. Returns are also possible at all locations.

If the desired item is not available in the Central Switzerland region, it can also be delivered from another library in Switzerland at a charge (CHF 6 per item if delivered to a library, CHF 12 if sent by post to your home or work adress)
