What Programs Are Available at the HSLU?
At the HSLU we recommend the reference management software Zotero. As an HSLU student or staff member, you also have access to the reference management software Citavi. You can find out why we recommend Zotero in our tutorial. In the tutorial, we also show you how you can use Zotero and what support options are available at HSLU. Citavi offers reference management and knowledge organization with an extensive set of functions.
Why Use a Reference Management Software?
Working with reference management software throughout your studies makes sense; it is therefore advisable to use a reference management software as early as possible in your studies.
Reference Management Software Offers the Following Functions:
- References and full texts found in databases and catalogs can be transferred directly to the reference management tool
- References can be inserted directly from the reference management tool into the word processor (e.g. Microsoft Word)
- the list of works cited can be automatically created
- the citation style can be selected
- allows for a collaborative collection of sources in a research team
- You can search in your own literature collection
- You can attach your own notes to the bibliographic reference of your sources
