Here are some of the most well-known and powerful tools for content generation that are based on their own LLMs:
ChatGPT
- This model was specifically designed for building natural language chatbots. It can be used for customer support, information retrieval, small talk, and more. Access to the latest models is generally only available via a subscription, with some exceptions.
Claude
- An AI-powered language assistant whose models are designed according to ethical standards, producing outputs that are generally safe and appropriate. Registration is required to use the tool.
Gemini
- Google’s AI-based chatbot that allows users to ask questions and complete tasks by interacting with the system and receiving relevant information.
DeepSeek
- DeepSeek can compete with other models on this list, such as Gemini and ChatGPT. Developed in China and released at the end of January 2025, it was reportedly much cheaper to develop than other AI models. Parts of it are open source, allowing further development by the community.
- However, DeepSeek appears to self-censor in some cases, and data privacy remains a critical consideration. It is unclear what happens with input data. DeepSeek can also be used locally, reducing the risk of data leakage. It is generally not recommended to input sensitive business or personal data.
- The release of DeepSeek reportedly led to a drop in the stock price of chip manufacturer Nvidia. The Chinese AI model is seen as exerting direct pressure on US companies and other AI providers, highlighting its political relevance.
- It is hoped that more models—possibly stronger European models like Mistral or Le Chat—will become available in the near future.
