The Hefti-Areal, which was previously the location of an important textile factory is the project location in the autumn semester 2020. The goal is to work out scenarios that allow the Hefti area and the town to be used for tourism. The focus is on the silent endeavour to preserve and at the same time develop the qualities of structurally weak Glarus South. ‘Authentic tourism’ – to understand architecture as an extension or reinforcement of landscape characteristics – this focus takes on this paradox. 􏰀We do not have the temerity to believe we will find valid answers during the semester. Nevertheless, we want to permit ourselves to ask what tourism or recreation could really be. During the semester we will study buildings that engage in exemplary ways with the relationship of housing and landscape. In the process, we will get a sense of diverse types of design in the interplay with the landscape, no matter whether that landscape is natural or artificial. 􏰈􏰋􏰆􏰌􏰑􏰓􏰌􏰈􏰏􏰗
