Bettina MinderDr. Bettina Minder – Research Associate

Dr. Minder is an active member of the international design research community. She maintains a steady exchange with the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad and publishes regularly in important design journals (I.e., She Ji) and at significant conferences (for example, Design Research Society). In Switzerland, she serves as appointed member of the Expert Committee of the Swiss Leading House for South Asia & Iran at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), a group mandated by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI). In 2020, she has been elected to serve on the board of the KUKA-Kinder- und Kulturatelier in Emmen (2020). The Bern University of the Arts (HKB) draws on her expertise for the written Bachelor thesis Visual Communication in its expert committee. She has initiated and led a number of projects funded by third parties, including MOVETIA (Swiss Universities). Since its foundation in 2012, she has been an essential member of the interdisciplinary CreaLab – The Future Lab at  Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (LUASA) that develops and advances creative collaborative methods. In 2015, she became a co-founder of the Interspin CreaLab, which continues as a non-profit Spin-off organization.

At LUASA, Dr. Minder currently pursues her post-doctoral design research. She also fills the role of deputy head for the Competence Centre Design & Management. Despite lacking a mandate for teaching, her concern for education and student engagement sees her working with the expert committee for the written thesis of the MA Design and the School of Art and Design wide PhD Colloquium. Her extensive teaching record includes courses in the Social Lab summer school and in the ISA (university-wide interdisciplinary) modules.

Dr. Minder received her BA and MA in Slavic Languages and Literature, Film Studies, German Literature from the University of Zurich. She holds a PhD in Innovation Management from Aalborg University, which she completed at the Centre of Industrial Production under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Astrid Heidemann Lassen. The title of her doctoral dissertation is The Perceived Attractiveness of the Designer in Innovation Processes. In addition, Dr. Minder is a certified legal interpreter for Russian-German-Russia with a Swiss diploma in Graphic Design (BIGA).
