Higher education institutions are increasingly becoming hubs of knowledge transformation processes and serve as centers for numerous networks. This creates exciting points of connection for inter- and transdisciplinary research activities. At the same time, these transformation processes are also a source of open research data from which society should benefit. The character of applied research is continuously changing in this context — moving away from research specialization and toward a research mindset.
