November and December at TanzMix were months full of energy, creativity, and exchange. Our number of participants has grown to about 20 people.
Each event began with a small warm-up to wake up and establish a connection with our body. This was followed by a Funk warm-up, led by Dominic. Rinusa brought fresh energy with her «Indian Fusion» and «Bollywood Fusion» choreographies. A key aspect of our sessions was also the focus on dance technique. This primarily involved visually communicating through dance and leading and following turns and other movements.
With Reza and Cevo, we immersed ourselves again in the world of Qataghani from Afghanistan and Bandari Shad from Iran. These dance forms, full of vitality and energy, were a highlight of our sessions. Dabke, an energetic Arab dance, was once again led by Momo.
Cançu introduced us to the world of Kurdish dances, which are danced in long chains, similar to what is seen in this video:
Dancing in long chains in the rather small club was not always easy. However, the joy of dance compensated for any lack of space.
The diversity of our program was enhanced by dance performances to Eritrean and Greek music, as well as belly dancing. These moments were characterized by an atmosphere of acceptance and collective learning. We look forward to continuing from January 16, 2024.
