The Egyptian artist Shady Elnoshokaty starts his visit to Lucerne with a lecture performance. His talk will include presentation of his work in the past 10 years and a discussion about the art in Egypt since the 2011 revolution.

Elnoshokaty has an extensive oeuvre ranging from painting to new media and has exhibited worldwide. Next to developing a focus on new forms of art education as a professor at Cairo’s American University he has also been active as a curator. One theme of his work is the importance of art, and in particular of young artists, in the transformation of Egypt in the recent revolution and as it is currently taking place. He received a doctorate in philosophy of Art Education with the thesis „Media Art and the Expression of the Cultural Identity of Contemporary Egyptian Society“ from Helwan University in 2007.

Elnoshokaty will be in Lucerne to discuss and feedback the students in the project module „civil courage and action“ (Zivilcourage und Aktion), and will also meet with the art master students.
