MSE Excursion to Paul Scherrer Institute

MSE students and faculty members recently visited the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Villigen. PSI is the largest research institute  for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland, performing research in three main subject areas; matter and material, energy and environment, and human health.

During the visit, the group were introduced to the facilities and research areas in the visitor’s centre, followed by a guided tour through the large research facilities, including the Swiss Light Source SLS, the Swiss Spallation Neutron Source SINQ and the Proton Therapy centre, and were able to ask questions and gain first hand insight into the institute.
