Selling Yourself: a talk from the Leading Conversations Course 2.2

Why should I share more of my work in public as a Service Design practitioner?

That’s the question we explored within the course leading conversations of the master Service Design program of the HSLU.

In this talk, we explored:

  1. Four myth Service Design professionals believe in, but that diminish their impact.
  2. How to make the value of your work and yourself more visible when working in-house as a Service Design practitioner.
  3. Mindset shifts that can help you share your work and get seen by your next employer or client.
  4. Why sharing work isn’t just about selling your value, but improves your Service Design craft.

In the Q&A session after the talk, we explored questions like:

  1. What channels should I use to promote myself and my work as a Service Design professional?
  2. As an in-house Service Design professional, does it make sense to share my work in public?
  3. What’s a simple thing I can do today to start my journey in sharing my work publicly?

A big, thank you to my mate, Andy Polaine for hosting this conversation and to all the Service Design masters students for their insightful questions.
