Observation Protokoll

For my “observational protocol” I devised a system that expressed people and their body’s influences. This system was created based on my own observations and opinions. My idea was that when people walk they lead with what is most important to them and that it generally falls into four categories. With this I wrote a bio and commentary of what it means to walk in this stance.

These were my observations while sitting at the Starbucks near the Luzern Bahnhof on Saturday at 6pm:

During my time of observation I also came across other influences to my system. My system and observation is completely biased and is up to personal opinion as to what stance the person is walking in. Although some are clearer than others. The weather, clothing and baggage that the person has with them greatly influences their stance.

Some quick notes:

Head category: many people with backpacks and people facing the cold weather.

Heart category: mostly women and young childern

Body category: mostly larger men, overweight women and women in high heels

Balance category: mostly older men and Asians

Couples holding hands: Many were both in the head category or then on in hear and one in the head. This could maybe mean on likes the other more than the other?

Cell phone talkers: Mostly fell into the head and heart category

In conclusion, this is a very flawed system of observation to denote what type of person you see. There are many influences that can change your observation and it is hard to be objective. But I think it was an interesting test.
